Flaked Oats (Micronized) – Usually oats make up about 15-25% of a chicken’s diet, but can comprise up to 60% of their diet, replacing the corn.
This cereal crop contains 12-14% protein, due to this lower protein content, they are ideal as a feed supplement rather than sole feed. They are higher in calcium than wheat and corn.
Flaked Naked Oats are a good source of oils, protein and vitamins. The rolling process makes the protein more soluble and so easier to digest.
Flaked Naked Oats have been de-husked before they are rolled, so contain less fibre, which makes them more digestible for chickens and waterfowl.
Oats are a good cereal to feed horses and many other animals.
Flaked Naked Oates is a very good feed, being rolled they will not sprout, making for a cleaner feeding area. It is recommended that water is not added to the rolled oats as they become glutinous and more likely to stick to the beaks of the birds.
